Date Posted: 12/01/2023 Req ID: 35205 Faculty/Division: Centre for Teaching and Learning Department: UTSC: Ctr-Teaching & Learning Campus: University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) Description: Nature of Assignment: The Oral Communication Skills program addresses students’ listening and speaking skills, along with vocabulary expansion and critical thinking to meet their academic needs. Given the diversity of needs, the Oral Communication Skills instructor will conduct in-person workshops, some of which are in the style of Communication Cafes as well as other specially designed highly interactive sessions that develop students’ confidence and competence in listening and speaking. Online sessions focusing on developing listening skills for course needs as well as personal coaching in addressing individual oral communication issues (e. g. articulation and pronunciation) will be conducted in a group as well as one-on-one sessions. Where necessary to meet the individual learning needs of English Language Learners, the Oral Communication Skills instructor will guide students in using Gen AI to gain additional language usage practice in between sessions.
