Date Posted: 12/04/2023 Req ID: 35249 Faculty/Division: Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering Department: Dept of Electrical & Computer Engineering Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: Applications are invited for appointment as Research Associate in Photonics in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering at University of Toronto. This position will commence as soon as possible for three years, with the possibility of renewal for two years subject to mutual agreement and the availability of funding. The hire will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a Lab-based fiber network testbed of the research labs of Prof. Hoi-Kwong Lo and Prof. Li Qian at the University of Toronto. Duties : Directly involved in the operation and maintenance of the Canadian Foundation of Innovation (CFI)-funded infrastructure for Lab-based fiber network testbed. Develop and execute research vision with PI to achieve research goals. Qualifications: A Ph. D. in Physics or Electrical and Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related subject. Minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral experience with demonstrated expertise in experimental quantum photonics and optics-related research. Working experience on a multidisciplinary team for large quantum and classical information related research projects. Minimum 2 years of experimental experience working on quantum and classical communication in optical fibers. Minimum 2 or more years of postdoctoral research experience in single-photon measurements and quantum interference measurements. Hands-on experience with noise characterization in classical and quantum regimes. Experience in building a lab-based research lab from scratch. (Highly Preferred) Experience working or collaborating internationally in a research environment.
