Retention Bonus after 6 months of continuous employment Guidance Counselor Job Responsibilities: Assists students with academic planning, accountability, and/or organization Assess the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students through a variety of means including one on one assessments, conversations, or interviews; standardized or aptitude testing; small group activities; and observations throughout the school day, Teaches a variety of skills including social skills, study skills, and test taking skills Counsels students with personal, social,disciplinary, and behavioral issues Collaborate with teachers to identify ways to improve the achievement and social development of students Requirement: Bachelor's Degree or Masters Degree with NYSED School Counseling or NYSED School Psychology Additional benefits include Agency paid: Life Insurance Short Term and Long Term disability Free meals in our onsite cafeteria The Children's Home of Kingstons' school, Grove St Academy, is a NYSED Certified 853 special education school located on the campus of the Children's Home of Kingston in Kingston, NY. Grove St Academy provides necessary educational services for both day and residential students age range 8-21, grades 4th -12th. Grove Street Academy specializes in small classroom settings and utilizes project based learning on campus and in the community. We use a Trauma System Therapy approach throughout the campus and provide the students and their families with a system of support and interventions that are not available within the public education sectors.
