OVERVIEW The Program Aide assists with the implementation of preplanned scheduled activities program and special events, (i.e. arts, crafts, pool, table games, cooking classes, homework, and field trips) for the after-school and evening program at John Valenzuela Youth Center. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School / GED or currently enrolled in high school /GED program Excellent organizational skills 6 months of paid, internship, or volunteer experience working with children ages 5-18 Ability to organize activities for children ages 5-18 Good communication skills (appropriate style, grammar, and tone) Obtain State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card if 18 years or older (company paid) If under 18 years of age, must be directly supervised by a holder of a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Card TB skin test (company paid) Pre-employment drug screen (includes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (company paid) Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification (company paid) DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Associates in social service or related field Additional experience working with youth in an after-school program Bilingual, English / Spanish verbal and written Experience with programs serving high-risk youth The above statement reflects the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
