Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through both English and language immersion in their choice of French, Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through internationally benchmarked curriculum spanning each language village. Summary: The Gifted Learning Teacher provides services to students, teachers, administrator and parents to meet the identified needs of gifted students The teacher facilitates the equitable identification and programming of high ability students in the thirteen areas. Additionally, the teacher will manage the writing of Advanced Learning Plans of already identified gifted students per District guidelines to include strength-based goal development, progress monitoring and reporting as well as assist in the selection of appropriate programming to meet identified gifted students' needs. The teacher also serves as a liaison to APS's Exceptional Student Services department. The Gifted Learning Teacher works under the direction of the Student Services Coordinator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborates with the Student Services Coordinator, building principal and staff, Academics Coordinator to oversee building-level Identification processes and programming for gifted students as defined by Colorado's Exceptional Student Education Act. Leads the process of developing and writing yearly Advanced Learning Plans for all identified gifted students; monitors and reports progress of strength-based and affective goals as outlined in the student's individual Advanced Learning Plan in alignment with state timelines, requirements, and guidance/expectations set forth by the Office of Exceptional Student Services. Provides indirect and/or direct services to gifted students as outlined in the student's Advanced Learning Plan in conjunction with district and building guidelines for gifted education. Assists classroom teachers in enriching and differentiating curriculum, providing materials, information, and supports to help create an environment which provides opportunities for the exceptional needs of gifted learners while ensuring continued academic and affective growth and development. Attend meetings and staff development opportunities hosted by the Office of Advanced Academic and Gifted Services to ensure timely curricular support and to maintain consistent alignment of process and practice. Communicates with parents, teachers, and students on a regular basis, including but not limited to hosting informational meetings at the building level which align with district initiatives and the ESS process. Other duties as assigned by the Principal. Minimum Requirements: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher. Master's in Gifted Education preferred. Must possess a valid Colorado teaching license with endorsement in Gifted & Talented Education.
