OVERVIEW: Provides interpreting and transliterating services for Deaf and Hearing consumers in a variety of educational and community settings including medical, mental health, vocational and social services. Documents interpreting time and activities for billing purposes. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Completion of IPP or Bachelor's degree (Associates degree plus New Mexico or Arizona Generalist License may substitute for Bachelor's degree) (Educational requirement will be waived for interpreters who are grandfathered in and certified by RID without degree) Valid Certified Member of RID or BEI (NM requires RID membership) Current valid New Mexico or Arizona Generalist Interpreter License 2 years of interpreting experience (community interpreting preferred, 1 year of experience equals 20-25 hours per week for average of 50 weeks/year) Pass drug screening (includes marijuana regardless of recreational use laws) and background check Clear an FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Summary (NM) or (AZ) Level One Fingerprint Card Valid Driver License, proof of insurance and Motor Vehicle Report DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Arizona Legal Interpreting License New Mexico Court (COC) certification RID SC:L or BEI CIC Mental Health QMHI Completion of formal internship/mentee program Additional years of directly related experience 1 year of supervisory, mentoring or teaching experience. The Certified Interpreting person provides interpreting and transliterating services for Deaf and Hearing consumers in a variety of educational and community settings including medical, mental health, vocational and social services. Documents interpreting time and activities for billing purposes. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.
