Advanced Arts & Humanities Instructor Salary : $18 - 20 per hour Advanced Arts & Humanities Instructor Hours : Summer months: Mon-Fri 9am-12pm, School year (Sept-early June) Tuesday nights 6-8pm (weekly), Friday night workshops (twice a month) 6-8pm Advanced Arts & Humanities Instructor Responsibilities : Develops and leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational lessons. Ensure lessons are executed to meet the needs of all ages, levels and abilities. Bring an enthusiastic approach to each lesson and clinic. Use energy to motivate the participants of the lessons and clinics. Develop relationships with participants and their parents through communication and actions. Use the class time to interact with the participants. Be prepared to instruct each lesson. Plan activities and be able to adjust them to every participant of the lesson. Provide an enjoyable experience that allows members and participants to feel comfortable in the classroom and at the Y by offering excellent service.Ensure adherence to the Y's standards and quality.Work with the Director of Membership Engagement and Youth Development to develop programs, workshops and camps to engage participants of various ages and abilities.Provide an enjoyable experience that allows all participants to feel comfortable in the classroom and at the Y by offering excellent service.Retention of positive community attitudes towards the YMCA and its program which can be measured through new registrations and retention of members in programming.Create weekly lesson plans and supply the Director of Membership Engagement and Youth Development with a supply list prior to the start of the month.Implement the planned weekly program lesson plan and special workshops.Provide direct service support in all additional Arts & Humanities programs/camps as needs.Maintain rosters and take attendance.Keep constant visual contact with all program participants, and use equipment safely as it was intended for use.Arrive no less than fifteen minutes before class starts to set up all materials needed for class. Advanced Arts & Humanities Instructor Qualifications : 18 years of age minimum with a background in cooking, arts &/or crafts.Ability to perform SEFA (First Aide, CPR, AED and Emergency Oxygen)Ability to work with others, especially teaching children. Sensitive to others.Experience overseeing staff.Strong and effective communication skills - verbally and in writing.Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention.Ability to handle cleaning and sanitizing solutions when wearing gloves.Ability to motivate students and help finish projects.Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.Possess vision clarity (with the aid of glasses if necessary).Meet a physical requirement of medium work (exerting up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
