Online Learning and User Experience Librarian, Assistant or Associate Professor Job Description/Responsibilities Library & Information Services (LIS) at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications from forward-thinking and collegial candidates for the position of Online Learning and User Experience Librarian to support online learning and diverse user experiences. Reporting to the Dean of the Library this position leads the creation and implementation of best practices and guidelines for learning object creation and assessment, including instructional design and accessibility principles as they relate to online learning. The Online Learning and User Experience Librarian will provide leadership and strategies for the implementation a proactive, scalable plan to support and assess the library's online learning initiatives. This individual will collaborate with other librarians, teaching faculty, and instructional designers to ensure library integration within the Blackboard LMS and will provide guidance for developing pedagogically effective digital content and assessments for the Library's delivery of information literacy education online. This individual will collaborate with librarians to enhance online information literacy education within academic departments at all levels. The position will also work in a team environment to enhance the development of Library's website. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in library science or library and information science from anALAaccredited institution Demonstrated knowledge or experience in the following: Creating online learning objects Learning management systems, such as Blackboard LibApps and content management systems Usability design and assessment Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Strong initiative and commitment to service Preferred Qualifications One year experience working in an academic library and/or online teaching experience Course work, certificate, or degree in instructional design Familiarity with online learning standards/rubrics, instruction assessment techniques, and the ACRL Framework Knowledge of responsive web design and current web accessibility standards including how these standards affect web design and patron access Experience with instructional technology applications, such as LMS, lecture recording software, graphic design applications and software Familiarity with pedagogical best practices in areas of instructional design, distance learning, and instructional technology Evidence of project management and organizational skills Demonstrated success working in cross-departmental teams to manage projects We are eager for early career librarians to apply. MLS must be received by the time of appointment. Terms of Appointment Assistant or Associate Professor, 12-month continuing contract, tenure-track position. Salary Minimum of $50,000. Negotiable dependent upon credentials and experience. We welcome early career librarians. Salary is dependent upon post-MLS experience and credentials. Excellent benefits program.
