Department: College of Visual and Performing ArtsJob Category: Adjunct FacultyJob Type: Part-TimeLocation: FairfaxSalary: Salary commensurate with education and experienceCriminal Background Check: Yes About the Department:The objective for Film and Video Studies is to 1) Offer courses leading to a BA in Film and Video offering concentrations in directing and producing, production and post-production (cinematography, editing, and sound), and screenwriting. 2) Coordinate (and co-coordinate) series of public film screenings, student showcases, and visiting artist speakers series. 3) Support a cohesive faculty and staff to carry out objectives 1 and 2.About the Position:Candidates must have teaching experience and extensive work in Cinematography. A terminal degree (MFA) is recommended, but not required for this opportunity. Please see information for adjunct instructors at Mason.The course description follows:"This course aims to recreate a professional camera department environment. By the end of the course, students should be able to understand and perform the function of first assistant cameraperson or second assistant cameraperson on a camera crew. Students will understand the history, function, art, craft, and science of cinematography."For more information on our program visit film.gmu.edu Responsibilities: * Teach Film Cinematography; and * Participate in Department initiatives, including meetings, screenings, festivals, etc. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Cinematography or Film; * Successful experience teaching college level; * Ability to work with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and * Established reputation as a Cinematographer. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree in Cinematography or Film.
