As the Principal Computational.We are currently looking for a Principal Computational Chemist to join a leading drug discovery company based in the Manchester area. As the Principal Computational Chemist you will be responsible for having a significant degree of input into the drug discovery projects, and using your knowledge of structure-based design, ligand-based design, virtual screening, protein sequence analysis and homology modelling to drive projects to completion. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Your duties as the Principal Computational Chemist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows: 1. You will lead the Computational Chemistry team to the completion of drug discovery projects. 2. You will use your knowledge of computational chemistry and cheminformatics techniques and toolkits to liaise with your colleagues to form successful outcomes. 3. You will have the opportunity to represent the business in external client-facing meetings, where you will present your capabilities in order to find life-changing drug discovery work. ROLE REQUIREMENTS: To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Principal Computational Chemist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history: 1. Ph D in computational chemistry or related discipline 2. Proven industry experience in a drug discovery team within the medical sector 3. A working knowledge and practical experience with computational chemistry and cheminformatics techniques, such as structure/ligand-based design, and experience in scripting with Python.
