Job Description Job Title: Senior Chemist Job Type: Permanent Hours : 37.5 hours per week Job Location : Cramlington Shift : Mon-Fri 12.00-20.00This role predominantly involves assisting the laboratory management in the following processes: Data entry, approval and reporting of results to customers Conducting training with staff as agreed with laboratory management and as required by the business. Effective recording and documentation of all training received. Ensuring all quality assurance and traceability of testing is undertaken and documented in line with the Quality Standard Assisting in method validation projects when required Performing routine testing to support the operations wherever required Perform daily calibrations, routine maintenance on equipment, and balance checks as per SOP's Championing H&S best practices Participating and assisting managers in external proficiency schemes to ensure full compliance Overseeing the collection of designated information to allow effective stock control of consumables and reagents and initiate purchase of replacement stocks in conjunction with Laboratory Managers. Assist the Laboratory Manager with all technical and operational requirements in accordance with ISO 17025. Qualifications Essential Minimum of BSC or equivalent experience. Proficient with Microsoft Office software and general computer practice. Appreciation of accreditation issues and procedures Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good organisational skills and a responsible attitude are essential. High focus on precision and accuracy. Desirable Previous experience in a commercial food chemistry testing laboratory Knowledge.
