Medical Lab Tech (MLT/MLS/MT) - Laboratory - PRN

Description:

Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Performs instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements. Responsible for routine clerical duties including data entry /ordering tests, diagnosis entry, retrieval of results, charting and faxing results as needed. Demonstrates competence in care of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Maintains the Mission and Values of the Crossroads Community Hospital. Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures. Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care. Education: Associates degree from an accredited Medical laboratory technician program or Associates degree and a least 60 semester hours from an accredited university including biology and chemistry and three years full time clinical laboratory experience or successful completion of equivalent training program. Experience: One to two years experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates: Registration as a Medical Lab Technician, MLT (ASCP), MLT(AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) or equivalent required within 6 months of hire. Must possess current card from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers within one month of employment.
