We're hiring a paralegal to manage the attorney's incoming email, prepare for real estate closings, draft estate planning and probate documents, and give our clients peace of mind. Applicants must enjoy interacting with clients and the public. They should be proactive, solution-focused, and organized. We leverage the latest technology to serve our clients better, so applicants must be tech-savvy. If you meet these criteria, we hope you will consider joining our team. Responsibilities:• Answering phones and conducting initial case assessments, preparing engagement agreements, and scheduling.• Managing the attorney's incoming email.• Managing real estate files, including initial contract review, drafting attorney review and inspection correspondence, title review, obtaining mortgage payoff information, clearing title issues, and closing document preparation.• Preparing estate plan documents using document assembly program and MS Word.• Conducting initial client interviews in our office or on Zoom.• Maintaining CRM, practice, and document management software, including Clio Grow, Clio Manage, and Net Documents.• This is a full-time, in-person position. Our office is located in South Suburban Chicago. Qualifications:• Professional, outgoing, and caring attitude – comfortable being the first person a potential client interacts with and accompanying them through their entire client journey.• Technologically competent and confident – must quickly adapt and master new programs, applications, and tools.• Detail and process-oriented - solid organizational and personal time management skills.• Dedication to lifelong learning – committed to searching for a better way to serve clients, growing the firm, enhancing personal development, and supporting the community.• Proactive, solution-oriented team player – focused on identifying solutions, not problems.• Education - ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired. Compensation: $61,000 About Company: Christopher J. Cummings, P.C. consists of one client care coordinator who has been with the firm for 2 years and Christopher J. Cummings, who has been in private practice since 1996 after serving as a felony prosecutor for 9 years in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and 2½ years as legal counsel for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Chris also served as a Judge Advocate General in the United States Army Reserve for 26 years. Our practice is primarily transactional, focusing on estate planning, probate, trust administration, and real estate. In addition, Chris has served as the Village Attorney for the Village of Homewood since 2006, representing the village in a wide range of issues, including economic development and tax increment financing, Freedom of Information, Open Meetings Act, and all facets of local government. Employees can participate in our SIMPLE IRA (3% salary deferral with employer match).
