Requisition Title: SIA – AST110H5F Introduction to Astronomical Observations (Marker) Position Type : Marker Course Title : AST110H5F Introduction to Astronomical Observations Course Description : This course gives a quantitative, scientific introduction to observing, concentrating on objects that can be seen with the naked eye or with binoculars. The measurements will be combined with calculations to yield quantitative conclusions and predictions. This is the first course for students following the major in astronomy or the specialist in astronomical sciences, but it is also suitable for students with the appropriate background who want to understand more fully the celestial phenomena visible to them. Number of Positions (est) : 1 position. Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed. Course Enrolment (est): 65 students Hours of work (est) : 30 hours Class schedule : ttb. utoronto. ca/ Sessional dates of appointment : September 2023 – December 2023 Salary : CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Qualifications : B. Sc. Specialist in Astronomy. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Good communication skills are required as well. Description of Duties : Duties will include marking assignments, quizzes, term tests, and/or final examination. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
