THE OPPORTUNITY: This remote opportunity is open to candidates residing anywhere in the United States or Canada. This position must be available to regularly support teams operating in different time zones such as Perth, Australia and Cork, Ireland. JOB SUMMARY: The UX Designer has the overall responsibility for understanding our customer's needs in multiple media platforms and converting that into appealing, highly usable interfaces. The UX Designer engages with the product team to seek a deeper appreciation of the customers' users tasks/goals to develop understanding of the best solution to be put created. Capable of generating user personas and user scenarios, they prepare wireframe, designs or prototypes of sites/features and solutions for internal review and brainstorming with the UX team mates and then too with the the Product team. The UX Designer works within the VelocityEHS established design systems and brand and with the scrum team in an iterative/agile manner to create solutions that best suit our users goals. Essential Functions Primary Duties and Responsibilities Own and manage all aspects of the UI lifecycle and user experience Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards Maintain and evolve the user interface to enable the user to accomplish a given task as simply and efficiently as possible Collaborate with product management, front/back end development team mates to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience Comfortable with ownership of UX deliverables. Guiding your work from request, to design, to approval to hand off. Being confident to calling for reviews, making revisions/updates and obtaining approval according to acceptance criteria from scrum team mates. Working within the established design style guide and product platform, improve the interface structure and navigation scheme though a UI roadmap that supports corporate strategy Ensure consistency of visual treatments of elements and components to support the VelocityEHS brand and intuitive navigation throughout the VelocityEHS Software program and web application Working within the VelocityEHS established programs and brand conceptualize workable ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks Define objectives and coherent arrangement of the interface using storyboards, wireframes, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate design ideas When needed, be able to support/conduct user research and evaluate user feedback Perform usability testing to identify discrepancies between expected and actual user behavior Minimum Skills and Qualifications Formal education (Bachelor's/Master's/Diploma) in Digital Design, User Experience, HumanComputer Interaction, Interaction Design, New Media design or related design field Proven UI experience for, Business Applications Software (SaaS), and Web applications which leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and mobile devices. This experience must include working within a Scrum team. Ability to create wireframes, prototypes as well as visual design compositions Working knowledge of Figma/Sketch, Confluence/Jira Experience with user interface design patterns and standard User Centered Design methodologies Good eye for aesthetics: grid systems, layout, typography and color theory Understanding of the limitations of web and mobile, with approaches/ideas to flex those boundaries Knowledge of recent design standards and trends Portfolio demonstrating design savvy to accompany resume and cover letter Must be available to begin working day in the early hours to support global team members Preferred Skills and Qualifications Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Rails, JavaScript/JQuery, ObjectiveC (iOS), C++ (Android)and other mobile platforms a plus Who is VelocityEHS?
