JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Purchasing , this role is responsible for developing sourcing/savings strategies and directly managing commodities, suppliers, and a team of commodity specialists to exceed targets. Works with the PMO and other category managers to the Total Cost of Ownership of the goods and services within the category/commodity. Performs category management, including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contracting, performance, and risk management. Works cross functionally with material planning, production, cost engineering, legal, engineering, and finance. Proactively seeks input and guidance from more senior category specialists and category manner in the execution of duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage team of category specialists to exceed commercial targets, support escalated topics, and mentor career development Selection and development of the global supply base to exceeded Blue Birds sales and cost targets. Cost control, change control, and parts and service support for goods and services procured Manage assigned commodities and supply chain strategy Implement contracting strategies and contracts for goods or services Responsible for support, implementation, and administration of supply agreements Ensure all contract administration procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner Resolve CSR and STR cases in an expedited manner Perform cost analysis and assess impacts of supplier cost files Assist in purchasing administrative duties (examples, however, not an all-inclusive list below): ERP part set-up, PDR creation, and enter approved cost changes ERP part updates, PMO/PLM assistance/liaison to OE engineering Perform other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the commercial truck/automotive market Ability to accomplish basic financial analysis, supplier selection, and approval Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to perform in high-stress, fast-paced environment Working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased Proficiency in MS Office applications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE : Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. 7 years' experience in procurement or supply chain management Proven track record of managing procurement categories, particularly in polymers/wood/glass WE VALUE Ability to anticipate and understand customer needs and provide guidance; Excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills to handle difficult and sensitive matters; Strong project management skills.
