Summary Exciting opportunity for an experienced Inventory Purchasing Specialist in the Stores unit of the Solid Waste Division of King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks! If you like delivering excellent customer service and challenging tasks of finding parts, tools, and equipment while also being financially responsible this is the job for you! There are many opportunities to test your talents in the sourcing of parts to support and keep Operations going everyday while also having the satisfaction of seeing a job being completed from start to finish based on your support...This position will perform heavy-duty truck/equipment parts inventory maintenance, control, and purchasing functions. Under the direction of a Stores Lead, this position will also be responsible for receiving and distributing supplies and materials to other employees and customers, ordering and stocking of supplies, and pick-up and delivery of items as required. This position will use a forklift in the process of their work and may be required to work with hazardous materials.We are filling one (1) Inventory Purchasing Specialist II position as either a Term-limited temporary for external candidates or Special Duty Assignment for eligible internal candidates. We may use this recruitment to create a list of candidates for any potential vacancies in similar positions within the next 12 months. About the Role: You will have daily face to face customer service interactions with Solid Waste Shop personnel and other Operations employees with request for parts, PPE, and many other items you will be responsible for conducting a yearly inventory for your designated section. Also fulfilling request through Solid Waste ordering systems and interaction with vendors some direct and over the phone contact. About the Team: Although small, the team is mighty! Job Duties What You Will Be Doing: Receive, store and issue supplies and materials primarily for the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Maintain and update computerized purchasing/inventory records. Parts counter coverage supporting Maintenance Shop, Solid Waste Division Crews, and transfer stations. Input and research inventory and direct purchases, disbursements, inventory adjustments and the history of parts use. Pick up, deliver, load and unload items as required. Perform warehousing functions using forklift and other material handling equipment. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Qualifications You Bring: A minimum of one (1) year of experience: as a heavy equipment/truck parts purchaser or in heavy duty equipment/truck parts inventory maintenance and control or working with heavy equipment and ordering truck parts using an automated and computerized inventory and ordering system that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work. Demonstrated knowledge of heavy duty equipment and truck parts Demonstrated knowledge of an automated inventory purchasing system Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills Problem solving and analytical skills Excellent customer service skills Demonstrated knowledge using computer and MS Office applications Must have a valid WA State Driver's License upon hire Competencies You Bring: Effective Communication - Able to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations. Supplemental Information Working Conditions: Work Location: The work associated with this position will be located: Cedar Hills Landfill, 16645 228th Avenue SE, Maple Valley, WA and Farwest, 201 SW 34th St, Renton, WA. Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour workweek and is overtime eligible with Supervisor approval. May be required to work alternative or flexible work schedules to support core service hours. Service hours are weekdays 6 a.m.-9 p.m., and weekends 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required. Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 - Joint Units Agreement (JUA). Physical Environment/Requirements: The candidate must be able to work in a high traffic maintenance facility with possible adverse conditions such as noise and dust. The candidate must also have the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. at least once daily with or without assistance.
