EVENT PLANNER POSITION POSTED: 5/6/2024 FULL-TIME POSITION HOURS: 40+ DEADLINE TO APPLY One City Schools believes in identifying and hiring the best possible candidates to serve our scholars, families and school community. All Positions at OCS remain open until the right candidate, with skill and will, is identified. POSITION SUMMARY The Event Planner is responsible for planning and executing all major fundraising and community events for the One City schools. This includes coordinating logistics, managing budgets, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing event marketing and promotion. The Event Planner works closely with the school administration, parent-teacher organization, and other stakeholders to ensure successful and impactful events that support the school's mission and goals. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and manage all aspects of the school's major fundraising events. This includes: Developing event concepts, themes, and activities Securing event venues, vendors, and required permits/licenses Managing event budgets and tracking expenses Recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers Overseeing event marketing, promotion, and ticketing Ensuring smooth day-of event logistics and operations Collaborate with the parent-teacher organization and other school groups to support and promote their community-building events Build relationships with local businesses, donors, and community partners to solicit sponsorships, in-kind donations, and other support for school events Manage event databases, guest lists, and post-event reporting and analysis Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and trends in school/nonprofit event planning LEADERSHIP QUALITIES Model One City’s Habits of Character: integrity, self-respect, compassion, perseverance and a willingness to encourage and allow scholars to take risks; Maintain appropriate work habits, including punctual, consistent attendance and appropriate use of planning time; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues while demonstrating commitment to teamwork; Strive to communicate the positive aspects of One City Schools to the public in word and deed; Help maintain a clean, orderly and welcoming educational environment and facility; At all times and shows grace and support when engaging children, parents and guests who utilize or visit One City; Demonstration of excellence with judgment, decision making, problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset; Energetic, flexible and open-minded; a willingness to embrace strategic change based on best interests of our scholars; Self-reflective and proactive with a growth mindset, including the desire to receive and give feedback. ROLE SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS 2-3 years of experience in event planning, ideally in an educational or nonprofit setting Strong project management, organizational, and multi-tasking abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure Experience in fundraising, donor relations, and event sponsorship Knowledge of event technology platforms, marketing tactics, and budgeting Passion for supporting public education and the mission of the charter school BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Strong commitment to the mission, vision, goals and objectives of One City. Commitment to working with children from diverse racial/cultural populations and their families, experience preferred. Ability to regularly and routinely lift and push at least 50 pounds. Completion of a background check required.
