Henne, Doberman Pinscher For Adoption In Milton, Delaware

Location:
Milton, DE
Description:

Dog Name: HenneBreed: Doberman Sex: Female Age: 5 yr Weight: 75 Medical Needs: None, however she is missing a toe and walks with a limp on that foot. Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes Good in the car: Yes! She will try to crawl into your lap at first, but once you push her over to her seat, she will sit and ride. She loves looking out the window and watching the world go by. She is great company in the car. Good on a leash: She is very good on a leash. She is wearing a martingale collar. She will occasionally pull but not horrible. We have been practicing “heal” and “sit” when we come to a stop. She would make an excellent walking partner! Energy level: Medium to low. It depends on the day. She has never been high energy but since she is still settling in she can nervous energy. After she is done investigating everything, she will lay down beside you. Need a fenced in yard: No, but would need to remain leashed. If she hears an odd noise she may bolt. She has been very good but one night she heard my electric fence snapping and it startled her. She was off leash in a fenced in area and bolted. She did come back to me but I would worry about her taking off if there wasn’t a barrier. If there is a fence she is very respectful. I can leave her in the fenced in area and she will sit and watch me. Dog Friendly: Yes. She was good in her previous out of state foster, but she has been selective with my two female dogs but only twice in a 2 1/2 week period. Once when she got bumped. She was still settling in and was nervous. If you yell a sharp “hey” she stops and knows she was bad. As a side note, she has also been good with ponies and horses through the fence. She will bark at goats because they run and after all… they are goats. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, not necessary. Cat Friendly? Yes, but if they run, she will chase. If you, say “leave it” sternly she stops. If the cat isn’t afraid of dogs, she just licks them. Kid Friendly: Yes, definitely If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed? Any age with supervision but she is a big girl. She will also throw her paw at you so she could knock over a little one. She would love an older child to snuggle with and eventually play with once she settles in. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? This very sweet girl was pulled from a shelter in TX. She was living with a foster home and was excellent with their dogs, cats and children. When she is nervous she shakes but once she settles in a bit she is fine. She will look to her person for reassurance. She is a people pleaser. When correcting her she only needs a sharp “leave it” or “no”. She is the sweetest girl. She wants to lay beside you - always. Occasionally she will lay on a dog bed but given the choice, it’s her person she wants. If you don’t want a dog in the couch beside you, she wouldn’t be the dog for you. She wants to lay beside you or on you. I believe this is because she needs reassurance from her people. Sometimes she makes it difficult to work on my laptop because she wants to be on my lap. Lol. Some of this may subside when she realizes she is finally home. She has been jostled around so much. She is a very good girl but if you need to correct her for anything, a sharp “no” or “leave it” works well. That is all you need. She will cower as if she has been struck in the past and she will slink over to you. Please be gentle with this love bug. She is excellent in her crate/kennel. Doesn’t whine, she will occasionally bark if she wants out but definitely not excessive and will stop when directed to. I’m sure she would much rather sleep with her person than the crate. She can go over night or longer periods during the day in her kennel and be fine. She has been sleeping in her kennel in my house. She loves collagen sticks and stuffies. Stuffies seem to give her comfort and she will hold them for a while. Eventually she will take out the squeaker. She also gives up any toys in her mouth easily and has not guarded her food when my hand is near her bowl. If you have ever been owned by a Doberman then you know what FANTASTIC dogs they are. She is super smart and has a lot of love to give. I could go on and on about her sweet disposition, and so could a few of the other fosters that met her at intake, but then this really would be too long!
