Position Description Situated on the ancestral homeland of the Tongva Peoples, Chaffey College is one of the oldest community colleges in California and serves a variety of communities, workforce partners, and students. While other community colleges are often named after their geographic area, Chaffey College is named after local innovator, George Chaffey, who, among other things, implemented street lights in the city of Ontario. Like its namesake, we are known for an innovative culture, dynamic environment, and future-mindedness. We remain closely tied to our community and are seeking leaders who will join us in our quest to provide responsive and supportive programming to engage and improve the communities we serve. The entire campus community aspires to consistently fulfill the vision that Chaffey College "improves lives through education."Chaffey College celebrates the diverse communities we serve. As a federally recognized Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Chaffey's student population includes over 62% identifying as Latinx, 17% White, 8% African-American/Black, 6% Asian, and smaller percentages of Filipino (2.8%), Native American (0.40%), Pacific Islander (0.30%), or decline to state (2.82%). Furthermore, 40% of our students are first-generation college students, and approximately 62% of students are eligible for some form of financial aid. The current student population identifies as 62% female and 36% male with smaller percentages who either decline to state or identify as non-binary. Approximately 5% of Chaffey's students utilize Disabled Programs and Services for support. To support the diverse needs of these populations and their intersections, the College has developed a variety of robust equity-driven efforts in and out of the classroom including the Center for Culture and Social Justice, Panther Care, Turning Point, Success Centers, GPS Centers, and BLOOM training.Under the direction of the Superintendent/President of Chaffey College and the Board of Directors of the Chaffey College Foundation, the Director, Foundation and Community/Alumni Partnerships manages all aspects of Foundation resource development, including fundraising, alumni/community activities, and grant development. Responsibilities Essential responsibilities and assignments include, but are not limited to, the following: Achieve fundraising goals set by the Superintendent/President and the Foundation Board of Directors; solicit and obtain major gifts; manage and execute annual and special fund campaigns. Coordinate programs and processes related to fundraising and grant funding proposals. Organize and facilitate committees and task forces, relative to Planned Giving, Alumni Association, Public Relations for Chaffey College Foundation and Volunteer Involvement. Develop and implement scholarship programs that address student need and support student success. Lead the areas of District external relations by establishing/maintaining partnerships with alumni, retirees, corporate partners, elected officials, faith-based leaders, civic organizations and high school partners within the District's identified communities and spheres of influence. Direct all aspects of community outreach by developing outreach strategies and implementing action plans that strengthen ties between the District and its external stakeholders for the benefit of students and for District enrollment. Provide expert consultation to the Superintendent/President and District leadership team on strengthening college community connections and partnerships with the District's local communities. Develop and maintain strategic plans for Foundation, Alumni and Community Outreach. Develop and execute quarterly planning for alumni, faith-based and retirees' councils to engage and involve these stakeholders; oversee written communications for alumni-community publications, outreach, presentations, etc., as needed. Oversee grant funded programs and operational systems to administer volunteer recognition activities. Serve as the District's liaison for communities by focusing on increasing public understanding and support for the District and communicating Chaffey College's value and impact on the lives of people in our local communities. Monitor Foundation assets, fiduciary oversight of trust agreements, gift reception and investment policies. Conduct meetings, presentations and special event activities. Train, supervise, and evaluate staff. Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations and representatives, department/division staff. Prepare proposals, reports, presentation/marketing materials, publications, meeting agendas and schedules. Attend various meetings and conferences. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Demonstrated evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds in a community college environment. Any combination equivalent to a Master's degree and one year of training, internship or leadership experience related to the administrative assignment. Three years of successful experience identifying, coordinating, and implementing successful fund-raising programs. Three years of directly related and increasingly responsible management-level experience in overseeing foundation administration, and community and alumni partnerships. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability and personality to work collaboratively. Experience developing and conducting presentations. Knowledge of: Principles and practices of effective fund development strategies and methods. Community college operations. News media operations. Grant funded program operations. Principles and practices related to fund-raising and effective fundraising methods. Effective marketing and public relations techniques. All components of a diversified funding base. Relevant computer applications and data base programs. Ability to: Raise funds. Manage multiple projects while displaying positive, high-energy, "can-do" attitude. Maintain a high degree of initiative. Establish community networks. Develop a variety of marketing materials. Develop and present information to individuals and groups. Organize and facilitate committees. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Work collaboratively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Establish and meet timelines. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Possession of a Master's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communication, or a related management area. Significant administrative experience in the areas of leadership, organization, planning, development, staffing, budget management, evaluation, and supervision reasonably related to the specific assignment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a full-time, 12-month, management position, Level III, Range 27 of the Management Salary Schedule with starting salary of Step A, $12,226/month. Effective date of employment will be as soon as a successful candidate is selected and a mutually agreed upon date is determined.Being able and ready to work in-person with Chaffey College students, employees, partners, contractors, or other members of the Chaffey College community is an essential function of this job.
