Essential Duties The Department of Communication Studies seeks candidates for a one-year, full-time, benefited, temporary instructor position. Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our racially and ethnically diverse campus community.The instructor will teach four departmental courses per semester according to department need, including Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Cases, and PR Ethics & Decision-Making.The instructor will participate in advising students on academic curricula; serve on faculty committees; participate in faculty meetings; participate in the development of departmental curricula; and adhere to all institutional policies.The instructor will serve as the Faculty Advisor for BSU's PRSSA chapter.The instructor will be expected to demonstrate ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.The instructor will be expected to demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. Required Qualifications Master's Degree in Public Relations or a closely related fieldExperience working with diverse student populations from a wide range of age, ethnicity, national origin, and ability; engage in and develop innovative teaching strategies; effectively assess student learning outcomes.Teaching experience in higher education. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in public relations. Demonstrated willingness to engage in high impact practices (e.g. internships, undergraduate research, service-learning, and global engagement). Experience teaching in multiple formats (e.g. face-to-face, hybrid, online, etc.). Ph.D. in Public Relations or a closely related field. Experience coordinating a Public Relations Student Society of America chapter or similar student organization. Experience with event management. Experience incorporating inclusive, social and racial justice practices into workplace/campus activities.
