The Instructional Designer (ID) is a design position on an innovative, fast-paced course design and development team. As a key member of this team, the ID collaborates with academic partners and other team members such as project managers, academic resources, editors, learning technologists, and interactive media developers to revise and create new courses that are effective, highly engaging, and meet quality standards. This role will focus on the maintenance and development of courses in the IT field. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Manages the design and development of new and revised courses at the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral level in fields such as IT and Math.Create strong alignment between the program outcomes, course competencies, assessments, and learning activities to increase learner efficiency in mastering competencies.Collaborates with academic partners and project team(s) to review learning and performance needs, and conducts needs, content and learner analysis to translate opportunities into learning and skill building solutions.Manage the design, development, and delivery of online course content, materials, interactive and multimedia technology-driven components, and other learning materials consistent with established design and development processes to ensure flexibility and reusability.Remain abreast of UX design learning, technology directions, initiatives, and trends to provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations. Job Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization.Demonstrate an aptitude for and agility with new technology in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.Experience developing and supporting online courses on IT topics such as programming and software development.Ability to think strategically from a business angle through all operational implications of product, content, and technology challenges.Project management skills, ability to own a project start to finish, determine milestones/plan, execute fast, work with agility while maintaining quality and meeting project timelines and expectations.Eager to learn, grow and to contribute to a dynamic cross-functional team.Solid background and sensibility in user experience design and methodology always thinking from a "what is this experience going to be like for the learner?" lens.Proven skill with Instructional Design Methodology (e.g., Backward Design, ADDIE, SAM).Possess excellent organizational, professional, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Ability to take complex information and data and make it understandable for a wide range of audiences.Must be able to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a cross-functional team.May lead and direct the work of others. Work Experience: Experience writing copy and course design. Experience in delivering instruction especially in business environments a plus. Additional experience in Articulate, Adobe Applications and Microsoft Office Suite desirable.Knowledge of adult learning theory, assessment, familiarity with competency-based education, and approaches to online pedagogy and facilitation.Ability to work in both highly structured and flexible innovative instructional design models.Experience working in a CMS environment and LMS environments to develop online materials. Ability to be flexible about how content is developed.Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.Experience managing multiple projects and working both independently and interdependently with an agile mindset. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any related field required. Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 1 year of instructional design experience OR at least 3 years of related teaching experience with responsibility in your own curriculum required. Other: Must be able to travel 0-10% of time.Must be able to lift 10 lbs.Typical office setting.Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.Access information using a computer.Effectively communicate, both up and down the leadership chain.Effectively and respectfully cope with stressful situations and when working with others.Strong mental acuity.Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.Other essential functions and marginal job functions are subject to modification.#LI-JD1SEI is an Equal Opportunity employer committed to a diverse and inclusive community.
