Position Summary: The Elementary PE Teacher educates and equips all students, to give them the academic, spiritual, emotional and physical tools needed to become Christian leaders. This position strives daily to bring the Living Word to students, some of whom do not, as of yet, have a personal relationship with Christ. Incumbent reports directly to the Rock Academy Elementary Principal. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts age related physical education activities/lessons appropriate for the students' spiritual, physical, social, and emotional development. Equip K - 6th grade students with the necessary age-appropriate movement activities to be ready physically for the next grade level. Establishes long range Development Plan for the purpose of ensuring organizational objectives are achieved in the most efficient and timely manner. Inventories physical education equipment, and materials for the purpose of planning each year's budget and planning for the future. Maintains physical education equipment and playground area, and storage room in a neat and orderly fashion for the purpose of ensuring safe environment conducive to learning. Manages and coordinates physical education programs and events, such as; grade level fitness testing and evaluation, student Olympics, sports camps, etc. Monitors student activities for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning. Effectively write and teach a weekly Lesson Plan with age-appropriate activities for the age group served. Submit Unit Plans as required by administration. Write curriculum documents for accreditation process by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) as needed. Update weekly grades, lesson plans, as due for posting on On-line grade book by Friday at 5PM. Maintains playground, resources, equipment, and physical environment clean, safe and presentable. Notifies facilities when repairs are needed on the playground or physical plant. Follow the school academic calendar, including professional development days. Provide lunch and recess supervision (as needed). Job-related Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience BA preferred or job-related experience in athletics and working with children. Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Ability to multitask, and work with a variety of age levels and abilities in a large and small group setting. Read, write, spell, and communicate clearly in English. Work productively, both independently and collaboratively with others. Follow verbal and written instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft Office for PC (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality as appropriate. SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job. KNOWLEDGE is required to read a variety of books and manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job ABILITY is required to schedule, teach, and model specific activities. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of abilities and limitations; and utilize job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; displaying mechanical aptitude; and maintaining confidentiality. Establish a climate that promotes fairness, respect, gentleness, compassion and self-control; as well as demonstrating appropriate teacher responses. Promote social development and group responsibility, by demonstrating Christ-like leadership and decision making. Establish, maintain and demonstrate Christ-like standards for student behavior. Plan and implement playground & classroom procedures and routines that support student learning. Use instructional time effectively and efficiently. Organizational and Spiritual Requirements: Demonstrate Christ-centered behavior at all times by treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity. Utilize the principles of Matthew 18 and Ephesians 4:15 to resolve differences of opinion with others. Successful completion of a thorough pre-employment references and background checks, which includes: social security verification, Local, State & Federal criminal conviction records search, national security database, and sex offender registry. Attendance at all mandatory meetings and events. This includes serving at Good Friday, Easter and Christmas services as well as the annual volunteer appreciation event. Member of the Rock Church (or if Academy, a Christian Church). Regular involvement in Church activities, ministries and events. Tithe 10% to your home Church. Signed acknowledgment of the Rock's Statement of Faith. Ability to interpret and adhere to the Rock's policies, procedures and employee handbook. This position also may require long periods of sitting, standing, walking, and hand/eye coordination for keyboard data entry and viewing data on a computer monitor.
