Title: Senior Contract Specialist (DoD Experience) Client: Federal Agency Ability to Work: Remote Clearance: Active Secret Work Schedule: 8 am - 5 pm (must work Eastern standard hours) Work Day: Monday – Friday Job Description: The Senior Contract Specialist role involves providing expert guidance and support in developing, negotiating, and managing contracts. This senior-level position requires extensive knowledge of contracting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders to ensure that contracts are aligned with organizational objectives and compliant with relevant regulations. Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and drafting of complex contracts, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements. Negotiate contract terms and conditions with vendors, suppliers, and other parties to achieve favorable outcomes for the organization. Oversee the administration of contracts, ensuring all parties fulfill their contractual obligations. Monitor contract performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Conduct thorough risk assessments of contracts and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks. Provide expert advice on risk management and contract compliance. Work closely with legal, finance, procurement, and other relevant departments to gather necessary information and ensure comprehensive contract development. Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal and external stakeholders throughout the contracting process. Ensure all contracts comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Stay updated with changes in regulations and industry practices and implement necessary adjustments to contract processes. Provide training and mentorship to junior contracting staff and other team members on best practices in contract development and management. Share expertise and knowledge to enhance the overall capabilities of the contracting team. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance contracting processes and practices. Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Required Skills: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, Law, Contract Management, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in contract management, negotiation, administration, federal and DoD regulations and standards. Extensive experience in a specific industry (e.g., defense, healthcare, construction) is preferred. In-depth knowledge of contracting principles, laws, and regulations. Strong negotiation and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and lead a team. Proficiency in contract management software and tools.
